Enjoy your holiday despite the pandemic!

Status: 07.01.2022

So that you can enjoy your holiday without any worries and be “Corona-Safe”, we would like to inform you about the current Covid-19 measures in Vienna.

Currently, the 2G rule applies in all hotels, accommodation establishments, gastronomy, body-related services, leisure and cultural facilities in Vienna.

What exactly does this mean?

In order to stay in one of our flats or, for example, to go to the museum, you must either be fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19.

You must be able to prove this with your green passport/vaccination certificate or QR code.

Please note that a PCR will unfortunately not be considered valid for entry! Since October 2021, antigen tests are no longer valid.

The measures are summarised briefly and compactly:

  • Distance & mask obligation: The FFP2 mask must be worn in closed rooms, as well as a minimum distance of 2 metres to strangers who do not belong to your own household.

  • Hotels: Only vaccinated and recovered persons may stay overnight in Viennese hotels and accommodation establishments. There is an exception for persons who have not recovered or have not been vaccinated and are visiting a hotel or accommodation facility for urgent professional reasons or to satisfy an urgent need for accommodation. Accordingly, a negative PCR test can also be presented.

  • Gastronomy: Access to restaurants, cafés and bars is only permitted for those who have recovered and have been vaccinated. All guests who stay longer in the restaurant must register. Currently there is also a curfew, which applies from 22:00 to 05:00. This means that night-time catering is closed. Many restaurants and cafés also offer take-away; no registration is required here.

  • Leisure & culture: Entry to leisure and cultural facilities, is currently only possible with 2G proof (vaccinated or recovered).

  • Customer areas: Throughout the trade, FFP2 masks are mandatory in enclosed areas. Opening hours in retail and catering are currently limited. Please check with your chosen restaurant, café, shop or supermarket for their opening hours.

These entry credentials apply to vaccinated persons:

  • Fully vaccinated with an EMA-approved vaccine (Biontec/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson).
  • Proof of vaccination is valid for 270 days from the date of the second vaccination for fully vaccinated individuals.
  • People who have been vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson must have a booster vaccination by 3/1/2022 to provide 2G proof.
  • For people who have already recovered and have been vaccinated once, the vaccination is valid for 360 days from the date of vaccination.

These measures apply to children:

  • Children under 6 years of age are not required to provide proof of vaccination.
  • Children under 12 are exempt from exit restrictions.
  • School-age children 6 to 12 must show 3-G proof (vaccinated, recovered or tested) where entry is regulated by restrictions. Such as hotels, restaurants, leisure and cultural facilities and body-related services.
  • For children aged 6 to 12 years (plus a maximum of 3 months), PCR tests are valid for 72 hours and antigen tests for 48 hours.
  • For school-aged children 12 to 15 years, the 2.5G rule (instead of 2G) applies, meaning they must be vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested.
Antigen self-tests no longer count as entry tests
  • An oral-nasal protection requirement applies to children from the age of 6. A mandatory FFP2 mask applies from the age of 14.
  • Children under 6 years of age do not have to wear a mask.
